Lady Celia comes from modest origins and should count herself fortunate to have caught the eye of a Lord. Unfortunately, she has become spoiled and ungrateful, and would rather wile away her hours playing her lute instead of preparing for her marriage.

Celia declares she "will never marry," and Lord Simon decides he has been far too lenient with the lovely young lady. After she defies him through a long hand spanking, she is introduced to the "rod." After a session with that, she is somewhat more persuaded, but it takes a final session with her presenting her own bottom to the rod while she is bent over a bench that she becomes convinced that her best path is to consent to the only man who could ever tame her.
